Good Morning, Insiders!
Spring didn't knock this week - it kicked the door in. The flowers are budding, jackets are optional after 10am, and if you were anywhere near a screen last Saturday you're still talking about it: the Boks put on a show against the All Blacks, and then the Airlinks did too, with that low, rattling flyover sending every dog in Cape Town under the nearest table. Worth it.
It's also Heritage Month, which around here means one thing - an excuse to eat exceptionally well and call it culture. Between the braais, the boerie rolls and a bumper spring calendar, we're not complaining.
One more thing before you get stuck in - it's First Thursday today. Stellenbosch's courtyards, bars and galleries do this properly, so skip straight to Eye Catching Deals and make a plan before 16:00.
Here’s what we’ve got for you 👇

Weather This Week: 3 - 9 Sept
Thursday's a washout - 81% rain and a blustery 34km/h southeaster, so lean into indoor plans (hello, First Thursday). It clears by Friday, and from Saturday the week turns into a beautiful Cape spring: sunny, warming steadily from 22° to a warm 27° by Monday, with the wind dropping off nicely too.
☀️ Best days: Sat 5 - Mon 7 Sep.

Property Of The Week
524 Pearl Valley, Golf & Country Estate, Paarl
Some homes whisper "wine estate living" - this one says it outright. Step through the double-volume glass entrance and the second fairway is already framed ahead of you, lake and mountains doing the rest. Four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and 513m² of unapologetically contemporary design on a 929m² erf - the main suite alone, with its jacuzzi bath and private balcony over the fairway, is worth the visit.
Downstairs, a braai room with a built-in steel braai and fitted bar opens onto the terrace, and a kitchen with dual wine fridges keeps the cellar close at hand. Add a guest suite, triple garage and full inverter backup, then step outside to an estate built around cycling trails, equestrian facilities, tennis, padel, a gym and a spa.

Spring clean for the soul…🫧
Spring doesn't ask permission - the flowers just start budding and the light stretches out, whether you're ready or not. Steal some of that momentum. Five resets, none longer than a weekend:
Clear one surface, not the whole house. One desk, one kitchen counter, one nightstand. A single clean corner does more for a cluttered mind than a spotless house you never finish.
Delete before you buy. Twenty photos, ten emails, one app you haven't opened since winter. Digital clutter weighs on you exactly like the physical kind - you've just stopped noticing it.
Walk before the day gets loud. Ten minutes outside before 8am, no phone, no plan. The mornings in early spring light is doing its best work right now - go see it before the group chat wakes up.
Say no to one thing this week. Spring makes everyone say yes to everything at once. Pick the one invite or commitment that isn't yours to carry, and hand it back.
Open a window and leave it there. Simplest one on the list, easiest to skip. Stale air holds onto stale moods - let this week's air move through the house.
Nothing here needs a retreat, a journal or a resolution. Just an open window, a cleared desk, and the sense to let spring do some of the work for you.
A Little Extra Inspo
This week's steal-worthy idea: Malva Pudding French Toast.
Take yesterday's malva pudding (or bake a quick one), slice it thick, dunk it in egg and a splash of cream, and fry it in butter until the edges caramelise. Serve with amarula-spiked cream and a spoon of stewed naartjie. It's Heritage Month's most-loved dessert doing double duty as the best Sunday brunch you'll make all spring - five minutes, one pan, maximum bragging rights at the next dinner party.
"The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful" - e.e. cummings, on spring, roughly a century before Stellenbosch's jacarandas got the memo. Yours is coming. Get outside for it.
